Opportunities Unlimited
The Opportunities Unlimited program is aimed at providing high schools/colleges with information on career opportunities in the automotive aftermarket industry. Our goal is to reach and attract today's young generation and encourage them to pursue a career in our industry. The importance of this program is increasing daily as we face attrition and competition for recruitment. We must inform students and help them in their career choice. The future of the Automotive Industry depends on them!
The CARS-Career Awareness Group has developed new career promotional materials with the assistance of AIA and other trade associations. Materials include: Careers Reference Guide, Industry Guide and much more.
The Automotive Aftermarket industry provides a wide variety of exciting and fulfilling career opportunities. More than 220,000 people are employed, directly or indirectly in the automotive aftermarket industry. While the industry certainly has a great demand for automotive service technicians there are also numerous other areas of employment in the industry that you may not have thought of such as sales, marketing, technology, journalism, administration, accounting and consulting. Career opportunities are virtually unlimited.
The Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA) offers a Speakers' Bureau service to schools. Let us know that you would like to have an industry representative speak with your students and we will provide a contact in your community that works in the aftermarket industry. AIA volunteer speakers can tell your students about the industry, as well as career options from their own experiences. The automotive aftermarket industry wants to help students make informed career decisions about their future.
A Call for Volunteers
A recruitment campaign is ongoing throughout the year. Promotional material will be mailed out to AIA members describing the Speakers' Bureau service and how to get involved. Interested individuals can return the Call for Volunteer Form to AIA indicating what areas/territories they travel to.
Each Division is challenged to increase their volunteer resources by at least 10%. We encourage our volunteers to take a more aggressive approach by contacting their local school and offer their services as an AIA Speakers Bureau volunteer.
