For 17 years, Marie-Josée has dedicated her career to the auto care industry—an industry that has shaped her personal and professional growth. Her journey began long before she officially entered the workforce, as she was fortunate to be surrounded by the auto care world from a young age.
Her father, Jocelyn, a mechanic with nearly 45 years of experience, played a pivotal role in nurturing her interest in the trade. From accompanying him to the garage to learning the basics of mechanics, she developed a deep appreciation for the field. Her father’s words, “Just because you are a girl does not mean you cannot do what a guy can do,” created a confidence in her that has remained throughout her career.
A career built on experience and dedication
Marie-Josée’s professional journey began at Desharnais Tire Services, where she gained experience in various roles, from working in the warehouse to supporting different departments. Her dedication and adaptability led to opportunities in sales—first as an internal sales representative, and later as a tire sales representative.
After nearly a decade in the tire industry, she made a bold career move, joining Pièces d’Auto Alain Côté as a sales representative.
“Working under the leadership of Alain and Mathieu Côté, I was given the opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally. Their mentorship helped me develop confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of the parts industry.”
Marie-Josée’s passion and dedication to the auto care industry continues to thrive. The ever-evolving nature of the field, from advancements in technology to ongoing training opportunities, keeps her engaged and motivated.
“It is not just the technical aspects that make this industry special—it is the people. The relationships I have built with colleagues, customers, and mentors have been the most fulfilling part of her journey.” she said. “Whether it is problem-solving, customer service, or hands-on work, she finds joy in every challenge the industry presents.”
Encouraging women to pursue their passion
For women considering a career in the auto care sector, Marie-Josée offers a clear message: go for it. While the industry may have once seemed intimidating, times have changed.
