Automotive Industries Association of Canada has joined forces with Conestoga College, Fanshawe College, Mohawk College, St. Lawrence College and Plug N’ Drive to offer FREE training programs to develop new expertise and skills in the auto care industry.
The Mentoring Excellence training program is a facilitated live virtual training aimed at shop owners, managers and journey people working in Ontario’s mechanical automotive sector. This training will equip you with essential skills for effectively training your team. Empower your staff, elevate your leadership abilities, and unlock your shop’s potential for success!

Mentoring Excellence
The program is aimed at shop owners, managers and journey people looking to learn how to start bringing apprentices into their shop or for people looking to bring out the best in their apprentices.
This program consists of facilitated live virtual training led by subject matter experts for a total of 8 hours.
The Fall 2024 sessions will be held via Zoom on the following dates:
- Session one: Recruit – Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session two: Train – Thursday, November 28, 2024, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session three: Fostering diversity – Tuesday, December 3, 2024 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session four: Retain – Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
The Winter 2025 sessions will be held via Zoom on the following dates:
- Session one: Recruit – Tuesday, February 4, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session two: Train – Thursday, February 6, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session three: Fostering diversity – Monday, February 10, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
- Session four: Retain – Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST
Virtual sessions are offered via Zoom.
Am I eligible for one of these trainings?
You are eligible for the Mentoring Excellence training program if you are:
- 18 years of age or older;
- a Canadian citizen, Permanent resident or awaiting Permanent resident status;
- currently employed in Ontario as a shop owner, shop manager, or licensed automotive technician;
- a resident of Ontario.
