Career day at the Montreal Motorized Equipment Trade School

The AIA Canada Quebec division participated in the ninth edition of Career Day at the Montreal Motorized Equipment Trade School (EMEMM in French) on April 11th. With 75 employers registered, the event required a large venue and was held in the EMEMM department of bodywork.

Danielle Goyette, Deputy Director of the EMEMM, spoke to representatives on the before the students’ entrance, to underline the importance of providing favorable conditions and opportunities for the next generation, in an industry where labour is in short supply.

“Twenty years ago, we lined up to enter training centers and graduates took jobs. Today the situation is reversed,” she said. “Your role as an employer is to provide your new employees with the future opportunities they need to build their careers and the future of your industry.”

More than 500 students visited the many kiosks. AIA Canada’s presence was successful as many students did not know the structure of the industry in which they planned to pursue a career. The AutoConnex website was presented to them as a one-stop source of information on the aftermarket industry.

In addition to telling them about job opportunities in the aftermarket, it was also an opportunity to inform them about the right to repair and access information on the websites of car manufacturers.

This event was a great success.
