Have your voice heard: What changes would you like to see to Canada’s EI system?
Later this month, AIA Canada will meet with the Commissioner for Employers to discuss the modernization of Canada’s Employment Insurance (EI) system. Changes to the EI system are necessary; while work has changed, EI has failed to keep up. We are seeking feedback from industry to share with the Commissioner on this matter.
The Commissioner for Employers is appointed to the Canada Employment Insurance Commission (CEIC). CEIC plays a leadership role in overseeing the EI program. The Commissioner consults employer stakeholders, including associations that represent industry, and represents their concerns and positions about EI to the CEIC.
For AIA Canada’s meeting with the Commissioner, AIA Canada seeks feedback on:
- How can the rules be simplified for employers? Are there specific ways for EI to be simplified for employers that sponsor apprentices?
- How can access to EI be improved?
Feedback will inform a modernized EI system. Therefore, it is important that industry participates. Please submit your opinions by Thursday, December 16, 2021 to erin.chreptyk@aiacanada.com.
