Executive summary

Within the Canadian light vehicle market, there exists a substantial amount of maintenance and repairs that are being delayed or not performed at all. These unperformed maintenance and repair items impact safety and vehicle performance for the consumer, as well as upside market potential for aftermarket retailers and suppliers. AIA Canada has commissioned DesRosiers Automotive Consultants (DAC) to design and implement a pair of models in an effort to estimate the potential market demand that may be available in Canada. Both models are based upon Canadian vehicle registration data and the maintenance habits of Canadians, provided by the DesRosiers Light Vehicle Study (LVS).
